You are right on all of your points. Especially the academic system being terrible at teaching language fluency.

Not only does learning a new language opens up a whole new world for you, but studies have shown that the more languages one learns the more your intelligence will increase and remain as you age. So it’s a win win situation… not to mention, quite an impressive feat
