We’re young entrepreneurs who are learning as we go along. There are days when we’re spinning in circles, not knowing all the solutions to our problems.
But isn’t that what life is all about – experimentation? Being a young entrepreneur, you’re going to experiences smoothing sailing, but as time goes by… you’ll inevitably experiences those rough storms that are bound to occur; and when they do, they’ll rock the hell out of your boat.
To a large degree, running a new venture can be a big guessing game at times. Should I move forward with this? Should I go back and do it this way? Should I go with this idea? Should I scrap this and start over? It’s commonplace for the entrepreneur’s mind to be fragmented with possibilities; but it’s up to you — the innovator — to explore those various routes and see what works.
There have been many occasions when we have spent weeks – perhaps months – on planning out projects only to scrap them and start over when a new and improved idea comes along all of a sudden.
Last night, after a serious brainstorming session, I scraped a plan that I have been working on for roughly 8 weeks. Throughout those 8 weeks, I explored every direction of the idea. I added, subtracted, divided, and multiplied the plan; I endured the struggles of trying to figure out what would work and what wouldn’t.
But just like that, in a moment of clarity, the solution came to me just like that. It was one of the most beautiful and elegant solutions that I’ve ever produced.
The point being: you’re going to have to go through the rocky motions and struggles to find out what works and what doesn’t as an innovative and hungry entrepreneur. As stated, there will be times when you feel like you aren’t gaining any ground, simply spinning in circles. You’ll be in the eye of the storm.
But know that confusion, spinning around, struggle, and disarray are all prerequisites for revolutionary ideas. If you can weather the storm and stay on for the bumpy ride, then you’re bound to breakthrough and come out shining.
