Thoreau, Marley, and Merton are Alive on Youtube

henry david thoreauYoutube has become sort of a university to me over the past several years. I couldn’t even begin to tell you how many videos I’ve watched on it. I’ve been inspired, motivated, and sometimes almost laughed to death. I’m sure that everyone is well aware of the power of youtube.

It has revolutionized the way people share information. It has been an outlet for an impressive amount of educational, spiritual, mystical, entrepreneurial, you name it, information. And it’s only getting bigger and better. I recommend that everyone should have a youtube channel. If you have something to share, it’s as easy as buying a Flip camera and uploading it to youtube and voilà, you’re in business baby!

Here’s a small eclectic mix of intriguing and thought-provoking videos to watch. Hopefully you’re able to get something from them and I’d love to hear your comments.

Pinero – Seekin The Cause

A cool poem from a powerful Puerto Rican poet, Piñero, of New York City.

Christian and Buddhist Mysticism: Thomas Merton and Chatrul

This is a short but powerful documentary on Thomas Merton’s experiences while visiting Asia to discuss religion and spirituality with Buddhist monks. This would be his last trip, but perhaps his most profound.

Lauryn Hill – I Find It Hard to Say (Rebel)

I was so happy to learn that Lauryn Hill was back. It seems as though she’s been charged with a deep and immense energy and insight. Listen to her new song.

Ram Dass on Attachment and Addiction

This is perhaps the clearest and most profound look into the workings of an addiction that I have ever heard. If you and anyone you know has ever been addicted, then this video is for you.

Terence McKenna speaks about Hope

Is there hope or is everything too far gone? I guess it all depends on how you view the world. Terence breaks it down quite nicely.

Iconoclastic Individualism – Henry David Thoreau

One of my favorite people ever, Henry David Thoreau. He’s the man. I’ve learned so much about simplicity from him. His book, Walden, has been somewhat of a bible for me. This is a cool little documentary into his ideals.

Bob Marley – Documentary

It’s Bob Marley. Enough said.

About David Askaripour

I've been thinking about life, existence, and truth for as long as I could remember. When I was about 7 I remember getting a headache trying to figure out who created God...and if someone created him, then who create him? I love investigating and testing, taking nothing for truth that outside my direct experience. At the age of 12, I started my own candy selling business; it grew so large that the principal ended up closing me down (but that was just the beginning...) Through my videos and articles, I share my journey with the world.
