Knowledge is power; we’ve all heard this phrase over the years. Our parents, teachers, relatives and even the gurus you see on TV are constantly letting this phrase gracefully roll off their tongue.
This saying is used so much in society partially because some people just cant think of nothing else original to say so they use common phrases that other people use, but also its used so much because the statement really is true.
The more information and knowledge that a person has the more equipped they are for battle. Knowledge is like ammunition; you gather up as much as possible and store it away until it’s needed.
When the moment presents itself for you to utilize your knowledge and put it to work its very similar to your secret weapon.
One of my old friends and college roommate use to always say, “When I’m in business class I think of myself like a secret spy behind enemy lines gathering intelligence.”
Okay, so my roommate was a little far out and loony in a way, but he had a good point in that he noticed just how important and powerful gathering knowledge was to his being successful in life and now he has gone on to acquire a very successful position in corporate America.
This passion, thirst, and extreme eagerness to gain and utilize knowledge is a must for any entrepreneur regardless of how successful they are in business. You must learn from your mistakes that you make, this is knowledge.
You must learn by researching, studying books, using the internet, investigating your area of business or focus, looking at large corporations and learning from the things that they do. All these points are examples of learning and information gathering.
You have to be a sponge and soak up as much information as possible. Learn to avoid garbage information and gravitate towards educational material that will help you along your career.
Don’t forget to take advantage of the many educational items that are on television. Begin to watch channels like CNBC which has plenty of business material broadcasting throughout the course of the day; personally I try to make it a point to watch this channel daily.
Yea it’s not as exciting as all these judge programs or talk shows where people are trying to figure out who their babies daddy is, but tell me how these shows or your favorite videos on TV is helping your venture to progress, most likely it really doesn’t.
I know most of us are fairly young still and there is nothing wrong with living life, relaxing and enjoying yourself, but sooner or later you’re just going to have to face the fact that entrepreneurship requires a certain level of commitment and one of those committing factors is that you must agree to consistently pursue is knowledge.
