Holiday Spirits

This is that magical season when everybody is jolly, singing holiday carols, eating way too much food, shopping and spending major dough and gathering with family and friends. However what does the holiday season mean for young entrepreneurs?

Well depending on what business sector you operate in, this could be either a very lucrative time of year for you or it could be a dry season as well.

For instance for the young retailing businesspersons, this is most likely one of the highest if not the highest season for business transactions, depending on your product of course.

However due to high gas prices some have speculated that holiday spending will be down, but we don’t listen to critics who sit around crunching numbers in suits all day anyway-RIGHT, of course not!

Then there are those who work in more of a consulting form relating to the service industry and for these individuals business tends to slow down drastically, because most individuals are focusing on leisure activities and they are putting service related business matters off until after the first of the year.

However for individuals working with any type of tax deducting business matters, this time period is also very lucrative for them as well. For instance when I worked for an oil and gas firm raising capital for drilling projects by offering investment opportunities to clients, this time period right around November and December was quite busy with deal making.

The reason is certain investments like oil and gas exploration offer extremely high tax advantages/deductions to wealthy investors, so many of our clients would consult with their C.P.A.’s and quickly load large amounts of capital into tax deductible investments in order to avoid high losses from Uncle Sam for the ending year.

Regardless of your business sector remember to relax, hang out a little, get with family and friends and enjoy yourself. We work hard all year long, so we definitely deserve a break every now and then to get our minds off the hustle and bustle of entrepreneurship.

Also remember that this is the time of year to look back and reflect on what you accomplished for the ending year, what mistakes you made and what you plan to do differently for the upcoming year.

It’s also the time to possibly renew your goals and look forward to the upcoming year, which without a doubt will be the best one yet for young entrepreneurs!
