All the success in the world. All the money in the world. All the clients in the world. All the All in the world. You know what? None of that matters when you aren’t constantly thinking about giving back to others less fortunate. If you can’t do that, then please don’t consider yourself an entrepreneur, but an ego-driven businessman constantly seeking to grow a bigger head.
I have no doubt that many of us will go on to run some of the largest and most successful companies that this world has ever seen — definitely. But the notion of giving back can’t be stressed enough.
Seeing an entrepreneur such as Marcus Ellison giving back with his Student Relief Organization to Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood is a great example of an entrepreneur thinking of others and doing everything in his power to help foster ambition and vision in our youth – they need all the support they can get.
In our plans to build super successful companies we should also be constructing plans to create ways to give back to those less fortunate to have created businesses such as ourselves.
There are many ways to give back; for some entrepreneurs who felt that their colleges helped them get to where they are, then donating funds to the school would be an excellent way to help sustain the breeding of successful graduates.
For others, helping stop world hunger and the spread of AIDS is a cause they feel passionate about supporting and giving back to – Bill Gates has been a tremendous support for this cause for a number of years.
There will be no one solution of giving back, that’ll be up for you to decide. But as long as you understand the need of giving and helping others when they have fallen, you can’t go wrong. The GIVING entrepreneur is the BEST entrepreneur!
