Is Your Startup A Killer?
David Ponte of Operative recently told me about a new community that profiles startups. Killer Startups is a directory of startups where the community can vote on and discuss the potential of various startups, trying to locate the next big thing! On a weekday basis, Killer Startups profiles 30 startups.
The site is using a mock digg model of voting on the companies by adding a “killers” voting widget on the side of each startup entry. Obviously, nothing unique or special about that, but it’s cute nonetheless.
Bottom line, the site does around 1 million visits a month so from a marketing standpoint it would be nice to have your company profiled on the page. Go kill ‘em!

david, did you put MP on that killerstartup site…
how did it go, if you did?
most people just browse that site daily just for the heck of it, to see what’s emerging…but don’t take anything really seriously. most sites just become some number to the viewer.

i’ve known about that site months back.
initially, you may be intrigued…
lol, but after day 3 or so - after viewing many - the rest just become some number. some, most are stupid, but a few make logical sense.
lol. some concepts are good…but they have a horrible domain name and/or site design - while some are vice versa.
i like to think of that site as a place where all the techcrunch rejects go to post about their site.

I agree, the site definitely has potential but it needs that “it” factor that will make it sticky enough to make the community more active.

Yea I have ben following this site since the beginning. I used to read it religously but after a while it gets pointless. It’s really sad how many “startups” there are with the same idea and a poorly put together strategy. Of the hundreds - maybe thousands - that I have read through only a few stick out as actually being killer.
