Let’s Prepare
If you intend on being successful in business then you must create a plan. Your business is a living thing that needs to have direction as it grows. How are you going to feed and care for it so that it is led in the right direction? Here are some tips to get you on your way.
We can start with your company’s budget. What are your expenditures? You might be spending money on things that you don’t need. Do you go out to lunch every day, or do you pack your lunch from home and save an average of five dollars a day?
I know that doesn’t sound like a lot, but if you work an average work week that adds up to about $1,300 a year. You could buy two decent computers for that much and have them hooked up with internet.
Next you need to figure out what it is about your product that the world needs, and outline how you are going to get the word out to them. It isn’t good enough to have an idea and start a business selling it.
The reason why most businesses fail is because they never get enough clientele. Perhaps they were doing their marketing in the wrong places. If you are selling hip clothes for a younger crowd you would not give your advertising dollars to the oldies channel. Odds are that grandma isn’t going to be running out to buy your new mini skirt.
Then you need to have your goal. Think of what you want for your business. Please understand that this isn’t about what you want for yourself. You can’t get your mind caught up in what you want. You have to be focused on your business surviving at all times.
Instead of getting a new car you could put that money in a savings account and wait until you need it to pay the gas bill. Trust me there will be much more satisfaction while you are driving your beaten up 95 Corolla, but your business is still safe.
After you have your projected gains, get yourself prepared for the battle. And don’t confuse yourself, because it is a battle. Business is dog eat dog, and you are starting off as a poodle.
So, get yourself ready for the world ahead by understanding your public and preparing for them to look over you for a while. If you have any questions about your budget then feel free to ask, and I would be glad to aid you in eliminating your questionable expenditures. Go get em’ Rover.

I completely agree. However I think in most preparation articles we focus to much on preparing before your business starts or in the early stages.
So everyone don’t forget to plan everyday. You should plan, execute, evaluate, and revise each day or week. Otherwise if we allow ourselves go on cruise control we may realize 6 months or 5 years later at the bottom of the hill trying to climb back up.
Stay sharp and keep planning.
