Adapting To Others
Being “cookie-cut” or simply one sided as an entrepreneur can sometimes be a disaster, especially for young up-and-coming entrepreneurs who are forced to wear several hats with their start-up.
The ability to mingle, get along, carry on meaningful conversations and rub shoulders with several different types of people is an important factor in life.
I believe this is one of the more important aspects that individuals learn by attending college. It’s not necessarily the in class information that truly makes college so important, because realistically 75% of that knowledge may never be of great importance in your professional career pursuits.
However it is the different groups of people that are at college that makes the experience worth while and extremely meaningful. Attending a higher learning institution and moving into the dorms really helped me come out of my shell, meet new types of people and learn how different people interact.
I came from a neighborhood and area that was very basic; every person pretty much looked, acted, talked and enjoyed the same things in life. As a result I almost began to think that this one-sided viewpoint and outlook that I possessed in life was actually what was right or even what was the norm.
However I’ve now been able to acquire a totally different attitude due to personal experience and through these events I’ve been able to develop a certain level of charisma that has really helped me in my business dealings.
A well rounded and diverse business professional should be able to conduct business and interact with many groups of people, because this will obviously allow you to accumulate more contacts and potential clients.
The quicker you’re willing to come out of your shell or comfort group, and learn to develop a well versed personality that is able to get along with many different types of people, the better chance your business stands to grow and blossom into new areas and cultural groups.

Excellent article. That’s exactly how I look at college as well. College really — more than anything — taught me about human interaction and how people socialize with one another. I met a ton of great people who have become good friend ’til this day. Thanks, Will

So very true David, getting to know different types of people is what college really is all about!
I remember living in the dorms next to the “International Dorm” where all the foreign students stayed. I learned more meeting and interacting with these international students than I ever could by studying their culture in a book. Thanks for comments my man.
