Trust Me – You Can’t Afford It!

You’re going to encounter two types of people during the course of your entrepreneurship; those who solve problems for you, and those who create problems.Your ability to read others will grow as you learn to rely on your instincts. And, soon you will be able to make quick decisions about who to hire or associate with based on your gut feelings.

Trust your gut when your gut tells you NO about someone regardless of how popular, rich, famous or influential they may be. Because, I guarantee you that your business, your self esteem and your entrepreneurial mojo cannot afford to associate with problem makers. Associating with jerks will cost you actual money in the long run.

And who is a jerk to you? Quite simply: anyone who gives you the heebie jeebies. But, let me be more specific. I know people who roll their eyes at me when I speak. I know people who speak untruths and misjudgments behind my back. And these people are completely available for me to associate with on a daily basis. So, if I wanted to make them a part of my daily conversation or invite them to join my life in a larger way – I could. But doing so would only hinder my success.

Anybody who doesn’t believe in your greatness or trust your sincerity may as well be tossed out with yesterday’s recyclables. Maybe some junk collector can fashion a nice mosaic out of their negative energy. But you cannot afford their criticism and un-constructive feedback on your life.

I’m all for taking criticism though. But, take it from people who have respect for you.

As a new business owner you may feel the need to spread your message to the world, take money from where it comes and prove your point to everyone. So, when a challenge comes along – naturally, you’d like to face it head on. After all, preaching to the choir is easy, right?

Maybe you feel that some people are harder to break, and some clients or potential friends may need to get to know you better before they warm up to you. But, I advise you to use your best judgment when deciding who is worthy of your time. Everyone is not going to love you. I’m sorry, that kinda sucks.

But you can choose to surround yourself with respectful honorable people who will enrich your life and business. And you have the right and the power to discard the jerks so that you can keep on truckin.’
