Live A Lot!!

Whfewww! I finally washed all of the red glitter paint out of my hair and eased my mind out of Halloween mode.  I hope all of you took the time to enjoy the childishness of a good sugar coma and dress-up adventure last night.

At the very least – I hope you kicked back and had some fun. I almost didn’t dress up or go out. It was cold and I was tired after a long day’s work.  But I really think that the four cupcakes, two taffy apples and about a half gallon of witches brew helped me wake up this morning with a refreshed perspective.

A few days ago a friend, an entrepreneur friend, said he couldn’t make it to our monthly poker party because he’d never be able to focus on the game. He said that the thought of poker made him sweat. After all – how could he waste three possible work hours on a game where he could potentially loose twenty bucks? And think of the opportunity costs, he huffed.

Being around this dude makes me sweat. He’s so caught up in work that he never seems to get work done. Do you know anyone like this? Are you like this? I am – sometimes.

We all have loads of work to do. And the problem with being our own bosses is that there’s really no one else demanding that we take a break. We know that we alone really control the productivity of our businesses.

Sometimes it feels that we shouldn’t go to a party or movie or even out to eat because it either takes time away from work or uses money that can be spent for marketing or something business related.

It can be a challenge for some of us dedicated workaholics to muster up the strength to go to a bar and not talk about your business. It’s a challenge for me.

So challenge yourself to a real fun adventure. Take a trip to a place in your own city that you’ve always wanted to see. Dress up. Or dress down (If you normally dress up). Sing karaoke, play Chinese fire drill, whatever will bring a real smile to your face.
