No One Like NOLO

If not the first, certainly the dominate and most ubiquitous do-it-yourself legal publisher on the market, www.nolo.com should be the first place you look for help when it comes time deal with the legal system. From tax law to arbitration, human resource practices to patent law, Nolo has the book you need.

There is no substitute for a competent, motivated representation, however, if you have to handle a legal matter without council, Nolo Press’s books can guide you around the worst pitfalls and give you fighting chance.

When it comes time to wrangle with law, nothing beats a lawyer. That said, the more you know the better off you are. I heartily recommend that you purchase the relevant Nolo title every time the courthouse looms, even if you have a lawyer you know and trust. Your lawyer can better represent your interests if you have a rudimentary understanding of the laws, not just in an abstract, “I read the contract” kind of way, but in a practical, applied fashion. Knowing how to ask the right questions and request the right services can make the difference between mere success and real triumph.

Nolo’s titles are consistent and focused. Though not “light reading” by any means, few customers finish a Nolo book with unanswered questions, and no previous reading or training is needed. Every book stands on its own.

I have little personal experience with Nolo’s newer products including a broad range of software titles, listing services, and forms collections, but, given Nolo’s longevity and excellent reputation, I expect nothing but the best.
