Lessons From Fashion Week

I spoke earlier this week about the advantages of sponsorship and partnering up. I saw it in full swing last night at a Fashion Week function in New York presented by BED nightclub, Evian and Flow Magazine. I noticed something interesting that I thought I’d share, something that I had previously neglected to mention in my other columns: partnering up and getting sponsors not only enables you to finance your project but they bring something much more valuable than money to the table – their guest list.

Last night the culmination of these three companies resulted in a really interesting mix of people. Some important and influential members of the crowd would not have been present had those three powers not merged. I guess it’s like a combined birthday party, you can share the costs and the guest list which means that you can be assured that people will actually arrive, extending your circle of friends and associates while providing an interesting event for your guests, something they will talk about long after the night has ended.

Of course, you can buy lists gathered by companies that are appropriate to your line of business but having a powerful company invite powerful people will always elicit much more respect and ensure your event goes off with a bang.
