Business Plan Pro 2006
Even when we go it alone we are seldom without help. From books to software to websites, young entrepreneurs are surrounded by a thousand resources dedicated to aiding them in their private quests. All the combined wisdom and experience of the generations which have come before is available to you…for a price. That’s why Tuesdays are dedicated to the tools of trade. Check here every Tuesday for reviews, previews, comparisons, and exposés on the vital organizations, support networks, and products relevant to you and your burgeoning enterprise.
We start with one of the most basic tools a prospective entrepreneur must explore, the business plan, specifically the Business Plan Pro 2006 software package available from Palo Alto Software.
While I will explore the concepts and components of a business plan in more detail in future articles, as a basic rule of thumb: if you know exactly what a business plan is, why you need one, and how to write one, you do not need this software. Though powerful and flexible, the experienced entrepreneur neither needs nor will benefit greatly from Business Plan Pro 2006. Rather, a few hours in a library with an array of business plan oriented books will better serve your purpose.
I do not mean to leave readers with the impression that Business Plan Pro 2006 is not a good buy for the right customer. Many entrepreneurs and self-starters, especially those in the planning stages of their own business, have no clear idea what a business plan is for, much less how to craft their own. If you want to start a business but do not know how to proceed or if you have started a business but do not know how to develop and legitimize it, this is the software for you. Business Plan Pro will step you through every aspect and detail of planning and forecasting your business. A new user will, with a few hours of exploring and experimenting with this software, gain an essential understanding of the power, structure, and value of having a business plan.
In theory, you can even use the software for its intended purpose (to write your own business plan). While a remedial business plan may be crafted by a user, it is my strong recommendation that once you have done so, you take what you have learned, sit down with a fresh sheet of paper, and re-craft your plan with a more personalized structure.
Look to Palo Alto Software’s Business Plan Pro for a strong learning experience. Then use what you have learned to write a stellar business plan of your own.
