Atlassian : Talk about Growth!
Atlassian, the Australian based software company founded by Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar is gaining some serious traction around the globe. The founders – at the age of 26 – have recently been rewarded the Eastern Region Entrepreneur Of The Year awards in Sydney.
The company has 2 leading services: JIRA and Confluence.
JIRA is used by a number of companies to track bugs, issue tracking, and project management for applications in development – making it easier for the team to tackle a major project.
Confluence is an enterprise wiki used for file sharing, commenting, and improving communication throughout the entire team.
I’m not sure if young entrepreneurs can really benefit from the offerings of Atlassian, since – like me – many of us are on a bootstrapping budget and don’t have the funds to dish out for an enterprise level piece of software. For now, a service such as Basecamp by 37signals usually gets the trick done when it comes to project management.
However, as our companies grow, money starts rollin’ in, and employees expand, I think that wikis such as Confluence start to make more and more sense for the budding entrepreneur running his or her company.
As for Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar, I tip my hat to them. At 26 years-old they have built a technology powerhouse that spans across 3,900 customers in more than 61 countries – Geez, talk about growth!
And with values such as these:
As a company we hold certain values core to our continued business growth:
- providing legendary service to our customers
- bringing brilliant simplicity and ease of use to enterprise software
- creating straightforward, simple solutions to complex problems
- staying close to our customers and fully understanding their needs
- constantly innovating in our software and our thinking
- being fair and reasonable in our software licensing policies
- communicating openly and honestly with employees, customers and all stakeholders
I think that this duo will be around for a while.
