Are You Counting Those Minutes?

One of the best gauges to test if you’re really doing something that you love with your life is the take the clock test. What in the world is the clock test? Well, it’s quite simple.

you failed! If you count every second, minute, and hour of the day when you’re busy working at either your job or business, then you have failed the test. You have failed because you’re dying inside and you want the day to be over as soon as possible. You want to go home. You wish that time went by faster. And you wish that you could be doing something that you really have a passion for.

you passed! On the other hand, if you can simply float along all day and are fully content with what you are doing, then the last thing you want to do is count every minute. You are happy with what you are doing with your time; in fact, you want even more time to continue working on your passion. Looking at the clock is the last thing that you want to be checking, you’re too busy thinking of new concepts, talking to clients, and improving your business or project at hand.

In order to pass this test, you really need to find something that you truly enjoy doing with your life. Sure, it sounds so simple – and it really is – but it can also be extremely hard at the same time.

Many young entrepreneurs have been lucky enough to find their passions at an early age, but I think it would be fair to say that there are even more people out there who are either:

  1. Stuck in jobs that they see no future in (of course, counting those minutes)
  2. Simply running around in circles with their lives, lacking goals, ambitions, and the pursuit to find what they are really passionate about in life.

Don’t let 20 years pass you by only to say to yourself “Wow, I never really amounted to anything – never followed my dreams. I wish I was 20 years-old again. Geez!

There is no time like the present. So instead of losing time by counting those minutes, start utilizing time and take measures to build a future of happiness, success, and freedom for yourself now, not later.
